Wooden Box Game.
This was the second box in a set created out of a walnut plank. The goal of the game is to get all the pucks on your opponents side. The change in colour in the wood grain is due to paneling the heart wood and sap wood. The paneling is done to mitigate against warping when wood shrinkage and expansion occurs. Some skills that were used and developed were laminating, applying veneers, gluing, mitering corners and overall box assembly. The base panel is inset into a routed grove along the base of each side wall, and is only held in place by two small spots of glue. The hinge pockets are all hand carved out of the box walls.
Some tools and machines used were:
table saw
miter/bevel saw
router
planer
jointer
belt sander
